START WITH A FRESH CUT
Before putting your tree in its stand, make a fresh cut about ½ inch from the bottom of the trunk so it can easily take up water.

A LITTLE TREE FARM TIP
Get your tree into water as soon as possible after the fresh cut. A newly cut tree can drink a surprising amount of water, especially during its first few days indoors.
Place your tree away from fireplaces, heat vents, radiators, and direct sunlight. A cooler spot helps your tree stay fresh longer.
Use low-heat or LED Christmas lights, inspect light strands before decorating, and turn the lights off when you’re asleep or away from home.

CHECK THE WATER DAILY
Never let the water level fall below the base of the trunk. Check it every day and refill with fresh, plain water as needed.
PLAIN WATER IS PERFECT
No sugar, aspirin, soda, or special mixtures needed. Fresh tap water is all your tree needs.
